CEM Wins Peabody Award!

We’re so proud and pleased and overwhelmed to announce that this morning the Center for Emerging Media was honored with a 2007 Peabody Award for the series Just Words. Just Words was a weekly documentary feature series that gave voice to marginalized people-low wage workers, ex felons, recovering addicts, the homeless, and more. You can listen
to it here.

We share the honor this year with some of our colleagues in public radio such as Speaking of Faith, the Brian Lehrer Show, and Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me! Also honored were television programs such as The Colbert Report and the BBC/Discovery Channel series Planet Earth. A

Our Newly Redesigned Website is Launched

The Center for Emerging Media is pleased to announce the launch of its newly redesigned website.

Over the past couple of months, CEM has been communicating with fans through a Wordpress blog, while posting new audio to a third-party site, while still offering some past audio on the old website. Now, all of these efforts will come together into one space, with addition of news feeds and forums for fans and friends to discuss almost anything under the sun.

At the new www.centerforemergingmedia.com, you can listen to every single past production of CEM, including Shared Weight, Just Words, and The Wire interview series. You can see pictures and access additional resources we've compiled for you, including links, videos, and more. You can visit the forums and interact with other listeners and talk about anything from politics to pop culture. You can visit the blog and read Marc's thoughts on the latest news item, or visit the calendar and see what cool events CEM is involved in. There will also be the opportunity for you to make donations to CEM via the web!

CEM would like to thank Linda Schenk of Cirquel Design for her work on this website! Linda did a great job, delivered in a very short amount of time, and was very receptive to all our ideas! Thanks Linda!
