Ratings

Could one of you professionals tell us newbies something about ratings in the public radio world? What does WEAA mean when they say they have (more than) 90,000 listeners a week? Does that mean that 90,000 people tune in at some time for some (unspecified) period of time during the week? What is the significance of a 4-day 2-hour show having 20,000 listeners, say, and how does this relate to a 5-day 1-hour program having 20,000 listeners? Is there such a thing as an average number of listeners per day, or per hour in certain blocks of time? Etc.
